Sergeant -Fuller,, V.C., whilst recruiting, ivas challenged to enter a lions' den at Wombwell's menagerie, at Fishguard. Ho doffed .his oap, and amid tense silence in the audience entered a cage containing two large lions, stroked their heads, and then emerged. He urged young men present to enlist, and some responded.
