FIGHTING IN ALSACE
GERMAN COUNTER-ATTACKS REPULSED Ey Teleerapli—Press Association—Copyrißlit (Ree. July 23, 7 p.m.) Paris, July 22. A communique states: "There was violent lighting on Tuesday night and Wednesday on tho heights of Little Reichacherkopf (Alsace). Following our attack ,the Germans counter-attacked nine times. Two Chasseur battalions held tho enemy, inflicting heavy German losses. "Our aviators dropped twelve shells on An try station, north of Dinerville." CERMAN VERSION OF THE FIGHTING. Amsterdam, July 22. 'A' German communique claims: "Tlio Bavarians bloodily repulsed six enemy attacks at Reichacherkopf, and captured a portion of the French trenches. "We brought down an enemy biplane in the Parroy wood. Three German airmen mado_ an aerial flight over the Munster Valley, and forceu "three adversaries to descend in the Thanu Valley." A RECONNAISSANCE REPULSED. tendon, July 23, 2.2-5 a.m. High Comissioner'B reports: — In the Champagnd' region, at the Cariip Chalons, enemy aviators tried, to bombaid the. villages and revictualling stations, but caused no damage. .In Lorraine, at East Pioucourt, the French repulsed a strong German reconnaissance. In the Vosges, at tho north of Munster, the French progressed en the dominating heights, after a determined fight.
