HOSPITAL NURSES
SYSTEM OF TRAINING CRITICISED. In noting the. long 'list of resignations of:hospital nurses, Mrs. .Wilford, at. yes-, terday s meeting- of. the' Hospital Board, thought that_there must.be something wrong, and pointed out that though there were so many resignations it was clear that not many promotions from the staff had been, made, particularly to, fill the positions rendered vacant by the resignations of sisters. It appeared to her that perhaps the nurses were'not getting the chance of gaining the promotion they may deserve. .
■ Dr. Platts-Mills referred to a case where a nurse had left becausp she had not been promoted to be a sister, as she felt she was entitled to be.
, Mrs. Wilford, moved, that a committee be set up 10. go into'the matter "of 'the training and promotion of nurses, the ■ committee to. consist' of Mesdames M'Laren, MTicar, .Dr. Platts-Mills, Messrs. Luke, Campbell, Baldwin, / and Smith. This was seconded by tho- Rev. H. Vaji Staveren, and agreed to.
