LADIES* TOURNAMENT.
Some , sixty or . seventy, enthusiasts ventured out to see the commencing; games of the Alcock.Billiard Diner Tournament yesterday evening. Four games were played, each being 100 pp.; Miss ! E. Stevens (rec..2o). beat Mrs; Kilminster (owes 30) by a fairly comfortable margin. The_ former player showed evidences of skill, particularly in leaving her opponent; difficult positions to play to. Sirs. Porter (owes- 20) beat Miss L. Stevens (rcc. 40) after a good hard fight. Mrs. Tucker (rcc. 30) managed to secure a win over Mrs. Nagel (owes 30). . The latter player did not by any means play up to her usual form until the latter stages of the game, when she made several pretty breaks of over ten. Mrs. Lockwootl (owes 10) after a keenlycontested gamo just managed to secure the honours from Miss Penman (rec. 40). The best ba-eaks of the evening were Mrs. Nagol2o aiid Miss E. Stevens 17. To-hight the following players will compote:—Mrs. Playor and Mrs. Girdlestone, Mrs. Goldie and Miss Howe, Mrs. -Turner and Miss O. Stace,' Mrs. Watkins and Mifcs Chant. - The games are being played in Messrs.' . Alcock and Co.'s showroom, Featherston ' Street,' tho contests commencing at 7 p.m.
