THE EXTRA SHILLING
FOR WIVES OF PRIVATE SOLDIERS Tho Government has reccutly granted a separation allowance of Is. per day to the wives of members of the Now Zealand Expeditionary Force. This allowance is payable from June 1 to the wives of men. who were attested prior to that date and from the date of enlistment in all other cases. Before this allowance can be paid a written application, accompanied by her marriage certificate, ni\ist be made by the wife claiming it, such application to be addressed either to Headquarters. Defence Department, at Auckland, Palmers ton North, Christchurch, or Dunedin, or to Quartermaster-General (4) ■- Defence Department, Brahdon Street, V Wellington. After being noted, tlie marriage" certificate will be returned. If the mnrriage certificate is not readily v obtainable a declaration before a Justice of tho Peace will be accepted. The allowance will bo added to thepayments made under allotment orders at the end of every month.
