'CROSS COUNTRY

OLYMPIC HARRIERS. The Olympic. Harriers held their usual weekly run on Saturday last, the rendezvous being Mrs. V. J. Byrne's residence, Ellice Street, the club'being the guests of Mr. P. J. Byrne, the club captain. Twelve members took part in tho run, which proceeded from- Ellice Street along Mount Victoria towards Constable Street, circling back through ICilbirnie and Roseneath till the Flagstaff was reached, where a go-as-you-please run-in took place in which E. Shaw arrived home first; A. Macauley, second; and G. Dixon, third. After the run about 20 members and lady friends had refreshments, after which musio and games were indulged in, a very pleasant evening being spent.

WELLINGTON HARRIERS. The Wellington Harriers held their weekly run on Saturday, w r hen a fair muster turned out from Cliff House, Island Bay. The pack, in charge of the captain, set off along the beach towards Happy Valley, with E. Eagle acting as pacemaker. _ A turn was made over the hills alongside of. the Valley Road till the heights overlooking the south end of Brooklyn were reached. Then the trail led down the ridge towards Emerson Street, Island Bay, where the hills were again, traversed. When the pack was about threequarters of a niilo from homo a team's race was hold. The captain's team finished first and tho secretary's second, Culverwell, Donaldson, and W. B. Bennett filling the places. Next Saturday the Palmer Cup will bo competed for at Mirainar tram terminus.

SCOTTISH HARRIERS, The Scottish Harriers .held their 3milo sealed handicap at Miramar on Saturday, a field of seven facing the starter, Miss E. Welch, captain of tho lady Ramblers. Tho course was in splendid condition and fast time was recorded by the winner. Tho lead was taken at the start by R. Ballantyne, S. Hall, and E. "Welsh being- in closq attendance. Before the gasworks was reached tho first-mentioned two had drawn away from tho rest of tho field, the gap widening as tho raco progressed. About three-quarters of a milo from homo R. Ballantyno moved out, establishing a lead of about a hundred yards on Hall before, the finishing post was reached, E. Welsh being the third man to' finish. When tho handicaps were adjusted the result was found to be as follows:—R. Ballantyne, scr., mulling time 17min. 34sec„ 1; S. Hall, 15sec., time 17min. 59sec., 2; W. Ballantyne, HOsec., time 21mm. U2-ssec., 3. 'Messrs. T. Redpath and M'Loan officiated as timekeepers. After tho raco a largo party of friends and supporters partook of afternoon tea. Next Saturday's run is from Cliff House, Island Bay. .
