MAGISTRATE'S COURT
Mi*. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., presided at the Magistrate's Court yesterday morning, when ten persons appeared on charges of drunkenness. Four of these, being first-offenders, were leniently dealt with. Other inebriates were penalised 'as follows John M'Kinnon, fined 405., in default to undergo seven days' imprisonment; John Joseph Watson, fined 205., or three days' imprisonment; George Perrin, fined. 10s., or forty-eight hours' imprisonment; Charles Neville, fiued 10s., or fortyeight hours' imprisonment; .Thomas Barry, fined 10s., or forty-eight hours' imprisonment; and Joseph Edge, fined 10s., or forty-eight hours' imprisonment. - -
• Mr. L. G. Reid, S.M., completed the hearing of the 'civil cases in which J. 0. Williamson, Ltd., sued Louisa Birch for tlio sum of £5 10s., rent alleged to bo due,for a shop in the_ Grand Opera Houso. Judgment was given for plaintiff for the amount calimed, with £1 18s. costs. _ Mr. D. Jackson' appeared for the plaintiff and Mr. D. It. Hoggard for the defendant.
