ALL FOUR DISTRICTS TO BENEFIT EQUALLY. Tlio matter of disposing of the 4000 shares in the Maraotihi Land Syndicate's Sstato in the AVaikato (near Hamilton), presented to the Wellington Patriotic Society by Mr. John M'Masters and his sons, of Piniroa (Wairarapa), has Riven the special committee set lip to consider ways and means of realising on tho gift a deal of thought. It has now been decitTcd that the shaves shall bo raffled throughout New Zealand as a grand national art union, and that tickets at ss. each will bo sold to the value of £25,000. It is estimated that tho expenses of Tunning the art union, advertising, etc., may amount to £1000, £200 of which has already been allocated for Mr. D. M'Laren's expenses as organiser, whilst £4000 will'Eavo to ho repaid Mr. M'Master, who advanced that sum (as well as the scrip), in order that the money could bo utilised for the Queen Carnival election. Tho remaining £20,000; is to bo divided in equal shares between the "Wellington, Auckland, Canterbury, and Otago district fund for wounded soldiers and sailors, and their dependents. Mr. M'Larcn, tho organiser, is to leave for tho Wairarapa, either this afternoon or to-morrow morning, and will attend a big meeting to belield at Carterton to-morrow evening. From there lie will work his way through the North Island, arranging with responsible agents in each town for the sale of tickets and the giving of the requisite amount of publicity to the art union.
