By yesterday morning's mail retailers received advice of a further rise ofta penny per lb. from local merchants, quoting the wholesale price as from yesterday morning at Is. 7Jd. per lb., less .the usual id; per lb. for prompt payment of accounts. This means that the public will be forced to pay Is. Qd. per lb. as from yesterday.
