FURNITURE TRADES DISPUTE
DOMINION AWARD AGREED UPON.
(Mr. P. : Hally, - Conciliation Commis-: sioner, 'Who has- been presiding, over a conference of -Furniture' Trades Unions' representatives and . the employers representing the whole of tho Dominion, announced yesterday that a settlement had been arrived at on all points' in dispute, and, ,the_ terms ' agreed upon would be embodied in an . award that would be operative throughout • Now Zealand.- As yet he was.not inthe position to make-all the details public, as seme of the parties- to the conference wished to convey them personally to. those interested in. their own towns, and consequently it would bo,: some days before details, of the award would be made available for'publication. l In making tho statement, Mr. Hally said that the dispute had been one of tho most .difficult to adjust and had occupied a longer time than any in his experience. ; .He also remarked'that with the conclusion of-'tho conference and the settlement of the dispute lie' had wiped his slate clean—the first time for seme years. "What that will lead to, I den't know;"- said -the'' Commissioner, enigmatically.
