AIR TORPEDO AND AUTOMATIC GUN
GERMAN HOPES IN TOO WAR INVENTIONS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, July 12. It is believed that Germany places great hopes on two war .inventions—an' air torpedo and an automatic gun. Tho former is fitted with propellers and driven by electricity controlled from a Zeppelin by .-wireless at a distance of two miles. It is able to hover, assume a vertical position, and dive to the ground, exploding a quantity of high explosives. It is proposed to use it against the British fleet.. Small, swift craft are being b;iilt to carry only aerial torpedoes. The "Daily Mail" correspondent at Rotterdam learns that the weapon will, probably be tried over London this sum- . mer. No doubt it is the secret invention about which, people have. heard maiiy - whispers. Hie correspondent warns his readers that it is not a. fantastio Jules Verne idea, but a practical weapon, invented by a, competent engineer, ana tested to the satisfaction of German naval and military authorities. It is hoped that the. automatic gun will pour out shells as a Maxim does bullets. .
