WAR RELIEF FUNDS.

Sir-,—Since the New Zealand Government makes ,the customary allowanco for "rank" pay to our soldiors, and since the public has subscribed these particular funds to help those who have been more or less maimed. at the front, and who have endured hardships in the war theatre for those at homo, • the writer, would like to make one or two suggestions with regard to the division of these 1 funds: . . 1. That officers and men share alike. This becauso one man's life is as much to him as the other's is to him, and because tho dangers havei been generally shared alike. 2. That all cheques be paid as directly as possible to tho recipients. themselves, in order that they may do with their own money as they, think fit. This for obvious reasons. 3. That a list be published from timo to time, and some short period ahead of the payments to bo made, in or mora of the Wellington'papers. . This list to contain the full, names and addresses and occupations of those receiving "War Relief Funds," together with the amounts paid, the respectivo religions of the recipients, their- status with regard to New Zealand (native, foreigner, or naturalised), and whether marricd.or single. This m order to see that each individual shall get "a square deal."—l am, etc., . J.R.D. ' Newtown, 'Wellington.-
