THE WILLOCHRA'S ARRIVAL
; DUE HERE ON THURSDAY. . Wireless news has been received by tho Defcnco authorities that the- Wil'lochnu by which Now Zealand sick and wounded soldiers are returning, is due to arrive at Wellington direct'from Fremantle oh. Thursday next—a day earlier than was expected. 1 Acting on behalf of the Mayor's Patriotic Committee, 'the' Mayor (Mr. J. P. Luke) interviewed the Minister of Defence (Hon;: James Allen) on Saturday regarding proposals for. the reception of the wounded soldiers who aro returning by the Willoclira. Mr., Luke suggested that the men should be met at the vessel's side, and that those who aro sufficiently recovered to permit of their entertainment should be taken in motorcars to tho Town Hall, where they would be tendered a brief reception. _It was : not desired to weary the men with long speeches,' but a few. words of'welcome inight bo spoken by' His Excellency the Governor, the 'Prime Minister,' the Minister of Defence, and Sir Joseph Ward'. Oil tho conclusion of this function, of which the distinctive note would' be brevity, the men should be the guests at a luncheon.'. -.' Mr. Allen was favourably impressed with'tlie proposal, and is to see Mr. Luke further in regard to the matter. I It is probable that a reception somewhat on these lines will be arranged. The Hon. R. H. Rhodos has had a message via wireless from the Willoclira Bupplyiiig a list of eighteen cases on the ship which will have to go into hospital on arrival. Tho next-of-kin of these | men have all been notified, and the list will' be available for publication to-day. ~The nexJt-of-kin of the convalescent men have not been notified.
