Mr. Wilford said lie liad a telegram from.some.people called Robinson Brps., who sa'id they were offered a cargo or 2800 tons of oats at 4s. a busli'el, 3000 tons of wheat at 6s. Bd. a bushel, and 1000 tons of malting barley. The sender of tlio telegram asked for the removal of the duty, saying that business was not workable with the duty added. The Prime Minister replied that thora was no duty on wheat and flour in any case, that lie was not interested in inalted barley, and that hei 'did not propose to rednco tho duty on oatsr If the . merchants referred ,to wished to import the wheat he would' be very glad, because the country could do with tho wheat well enough.
