The Wellington' Anglican Diocesan ' Synod last night placed on, record its • high appreciation of. the Christian life and character of James RobertUCassell,' Archdeacon of Waitotara, and of the devoted labours for the good of the. The club did not think that such a tax would bo in degree sufficient for tho • purpose, and instructed its delegates to ■ advocate a wheel tax on all vehicles.' Sergeant J. .L. S. Director of Military Hospitals, on the subject of the carriage'of. tho sick-and wounded ' soldiers. The club, agreed that its members would accept and carry out. the duty of removing all the sick and. wounded soldiers from the s.s. Willochra or any other ship' that' may arrivo .withwounded soldiers on board. As to the removal of' the sick : from : howover, the opinion was expressed that • it "would be too great an undertaking. V In, the first place there would be a• ■ danger of tho cars becoming 1 infected, and in the second tho cars'available would not be sufficient for the purposo - without putting too big a strain on the members. For tho purposo of carrying' the sick, tho club ■ suggested that the Government should provide three cars, to be used . continuously, and ■ agreed that it would supply any deficiency in .that respect that might arise.
