From tlie time of her departure from Sydney, at noon on Thursday, she did .not. see the sun or stars, and the captain depended entirely on dead reckoning till Sunday, at 3 p.m., when he sighted land, in the vicinity of Capo Maria'. ': -, He did not obtain soundings until 10 oil Sunday night, having' been cruising about off the North. Cape for .two days, in'thick' weather. : When the. position was located by soundings, the vessel. was thirty miles E.N.E. of Cape Maria. > She experienced dirty'weather thence,to.port.'Captain Entwistle was continuously on the bridge from Thursday night till Sunday night., •' The Riverina suffered no. damage.
