A FEASIBLE IDEA

. 'ATTENTION TO SICK AND WOUNDED TROOPERS. A deputation from the New Zealand Natives' Association waited on the Minister of Public Health (Hon. 11. H. Rhodes) oil Tuesday to;place before him a proposal which- should help materially to lighten tho lot of sick ' soldiers at or from Trentham, and also tho wounded from the front inrcspect of hospital cases. The proposal of the Natives' Association is.in brief that it bo.giveii Government sanction to form a Women's Visiting Guild, the members of which mil undertake to keep a watchful eye on every sick or wounded trooper in Wellington, no matter where he; may be located; to Visit him regularly and see that he is comfortably; accommodated, and wants for nothing in reason that can be supplied (under medical sanction); and to keep his relatives posted : as to his condition. Provided the Government approves — and; the Minister was, very favourably impressed, with vho proposal—the Natives'' Association is prepared to furnish a lady visitor to every trooper who is reported to be sick, the names and , location, of each to bo supplied to tlip association by .the Defence. or , Health Department. In the case of hospital cases, the visits would be made only on the regular-visiting days, but it would assure, patients (and their relatives in other parts of New Zealand) that someone was''taking a sympathetic interest in their loved ones, apart from constituted authorities. The association, through its proposed ladies' branch, -would also supply ' pens, paper, books, arid homo, comforts to such that are in need of them, and would perfotm their offices quietly arid conscientiously without in any way interfering with the routine work of the hospitals and convalescent homes where jthe. sick are being cared for. In., this manner a personal interest / -would be introduced in every case that would be helpful to the authorities and .welcomo to the ailing pien.
