A Presentation. : '" A meetiiig of the committee of the ■ St. Jolm 1 Ambulance Nursing Guild was held at the residence of the president, , Mrs. Moorliouse, yesterday afternoon. : At the conclusion of the necessary business that bad to be transacted, Mrs. Moorliouse entertained Nurse Macandrew (till, recently; senior district nurso, but who is now leaving to take up nursing in connection with tlio wounded in England) and the committee at afternoon tea, and before the gathering dispersed presented the guest of honour, on behalf of herself and the committee, with a very handsome travelling rug; accompanied witli a letter of warm ■ appreciation of her. work, signed by representative committee members; Mrs. Moorliouse, when making the presentation, paid'a'tribute to the good'work that had been so faithfully performed by Nurse Macandrew, and wished her God-speed and a safe'return. . In thanking the president and the committee for their cordial wishes'and their gift, Nurse Macandrew spoke of the happy feeling that had existed between the committee and herself in all the eight years in which she had been working fop them, and of what a pleasure her work for. that reason had been to her. On her return to New Zealand she hoped to be once more associated with them in ambulaiico work. Nurse Walton, who is now senior district nurse, was among those who were prosent. Nurse Macandrew leaves for London next week by the Remiiera. The Island Bay Surf and Life-Saving Club held a. very pleasant and success-. M euchre party and dance on ' Saturday evening at Cliff House. Mrs! Shaw and Messrs. Hurley and Reeve were the successful winners at euchre, and prizes were presented to them during the I evening.
