MAGISTRATE'S COURT

.SATURDAY'S SITTING-. Sir. D. G. 'A'. Cooper, S.M., presided •at Saturday's sitting of""tho Magistrate's Court. On a charge of forging a cheque for £6 125., and uttering the same at Greytown, William Thorn was remanded for a week. It was reported' that Thorn had been removed to the Hospital through illness. ; A young man pleaded guilty to stealing 2J- yards of suiting from the D.I.C. He was fined £2, in d«ault to undergo seven days' imprisonment. Mr. H. F. O'Leary appeared for tho accused. Thomas Johnston, a fireman on the liidrabarah, was ordered to forfeit two days' pay for'absenting himself from his ship without leave. For using indecent language tho same accused was fined £2, default being fixed at seven days' imprisonment Mr. E. B. Tustin appeared for the owners of .the vessel. Inez Miller -was remanded for a week on a oharge of being an idlo and disorderly person. For . drunkenness, Daniel M'jßandlo and Thomas Gardiner were fined 40s. each, in default seven days' imprisonment. On a similar charge • James Henry Murray was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence, when called' upon,, it being'a condition of his release that he should leave for the country. Three first-offending inebriates were also dealt with.
