By Telegraph.—Press Association. Invorcarelll, June 30. The Customs revenue collected at the port' of InvercoxgiU during June reached the record figure of £12,868, compared with £8426 for the corresponding period of last year. The increase is attributable to the clearance of large quantities of spirits, tobacco, etc., in anticipation of a change in. the Customs tariff. SOUTHLAND GRAIN RETURNS. Invercargill, June 30. The following comprise the figures of groin carried over the Southland section of railways for the week ending Saturday 1a5t;—21,991 sacks, total to date 447,098 sacks. The figures for the corresponding period of 1914 are 3737 and 255,891 respectively. BUTTER AND CHEESE MARKETS. ■ Messrs. A. S. Pa,terson and Co., Ltd., Wellington, ha-ve been advised by their London principals, Messrs. J. and 0. Lonsdale and -Co., Ltd., as follows:—Cheese: The market is ' steady and quotation for New Zealand white and coloured is 945. penewt. Butter: The market is cleared of New Zealand. LONDON WOOL SALES. At the London wool Bales, 8279 bales were offered, including 2439 bales of New Zcolacd. There was a good attendance, and bidding was keen for good (Wools. ■ Practically all the purchases were for the Home trade. Good greasy combing merinos brought 7i per cent, above the last closing rates; medium, 5 per cent, e.bovc. Faulty and ail clothing -wools were unchanged. Good ■ scoureds showed a 5 per cent, advance, fine crossbreds 7b per cent.; medium and low 5 per cent., scoureds 5 per cent.; slipes of good length were unchanged; clothing, 5 per cent, advance. Merino and lambs' wools were scarce and showed 5 per cent, advance. Crossbreds .were unchanged. The sixth series will be held on September 7, and the list closes on August 17, or when 200,C00 bales have arrived. PRIVATE ADVICES. Messrs. Murray,' Roberts and Co., Ltd., have received the following cablegram from London, under date June 53:—"Sales opened; attendance and competition good. Greasy merino combings, good, 7J per cent, to 10 per cent, higher; inferior, no change; scoured, good, 5 per cent, higher; inferior, no change; crossbred, 5 per cent, to 7i per cent, higher." The Eame firm have received the following message from London regarding the sixth series of wool sales:—"Sixth series commence, September 7; list oloses August 17. Subject to a limit of 200,000 new arrivals." The United Farmers' Co-operative Association, Ltd., are in receipt of the following cablegram from their' London agents, under date June 29:—The, fifth series of ■wool sales opened to-day to a full attendance of buyers'and keen competition: Fine, medium, and coarse crossbred shows an advance of from par to 5 per cent., compared with closing rates of previous sale. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd., Wellington, have received the following cablegram from their London office, dated June 28:—The sixth series of wool sales has been fixed to open on September 7. Tho list closes on August 17 or the date on which 200,000 bales net new arrivals have been received. Messrs. W. and G. TurnbuU and Co., Ltd., Teport having received a cablegram from their London agents which reads as follows : — 'Crossbreds, seven and a half per cent., others barely five per cent., adadvance." ~T he Bank of New Zealand has received the following cable message from its London office with reference to the wool sales, whioh opened yesterday :—"Crossbreds generally t are par to 5 per cent, dearer; good merinos, 5 per cent, to 71 per cent, dearer; others unchanged." HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABLED MARKET REPORT. ; . The Department of Agriculture, Indus- • tries, and Commerce has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, dated London, June 29, in regard to the opening of the colonial' wool sales: —The wool sales have commenced. The market; is firm, and manufacturers ore busy, but high prices restrict competition. On an average prices for merino and fine crossbreds are one penny, and medium and coarse crossbreds are one half-penny higher than closing rates at last sales.
