CALLANT SOLDIERS' LETTERS.

Sir, —Will you kindly allow me space in your columns to show my appreciation of the letters which have appeared in the paper, written by our New Zea-. land soldiers from the Dardanelles? I must say I have read each one of the;/n with the utmost interest and enjoyment. And I think they make one pav/se and think what splendid characters our officers and men must possess to be sjble to go into tragedy unparalleled in the world's history and come out of i'c to write the record in such charmimgly cheerful tono. I must also draw attention to one letter, evidently written, by quite a young hoy, who having jrot a bullet through his neck was bleeding so profusely that he . thought it w;jus not worth while putting on his field dressing, but just found a pretty little bush and lay under it to die, and afteir thinking of his family only felt a deefo regret at beinj* knocked out so soon, 'and not having had time to do more -fighting. And so wrapped up was he' in his thoughts that he had quite overlooked tho fact that his wound had ceased to bleed aijd he was lying alone. But with courage enough for any emergency, he rises and runs until he gets back to his mates. I think this letter is 'the prettiest little bit of sentiment I have ever read. And I intend cutting out all those letters and pasting them into a book for my own boy fto read when he is old enough. And I feel sure tlicy are worth keeping for oujr coming men to study. And I believe they wiu help materially in making bravo and honest men of them.—l am, etc., A PATRIOTIC MOTHER.
