Few sailers now under the British flag are better known thaii the four-masted barque Holt llill and the barque lnverinay, consequently much interest is certain to be shown in the trial of speed they are now engaged upon. Laden with case oil, the four-master is bound to Melbourne, whilst the Invermay, with a full cargo of general merchandise, is bound to Sydney. Cables received at Sydney on Juno 15 announce that they havo both left New York, and as they undoubtedly are in good trim and condition, some smart sailing is sure to be reported on arrival. Recent advices received from New York 6ta.te that sailing tonnage for Australia still continues to advance, and that the latest fixtures have been made at a big. increase compared with the prices paid for vessels fixed soma months ago. The following are the latest charters I The British barque Galgorm Castle, 1507 tons register, taken at 475, per ton, June-July loading; the ship Kirkcudbrightshire, 1482 tons, fixed at 50s. per ton, one port, if two ports 555., June-July loading; the fourmasted barquo Yiineira, 2163 tons, was also fixed to load for Melbourne and Sydney.at 655. per ton. The new Craig steamer Omana has arrived at Dunedin from Home, via Bunbury. Subsequently the vessel will visit Auckland to load for Australia. After a lengthy passage from the Pacific Slope the British three-masted schooner Albert Mayer has made Wellington, and has reported "All well." She has berthed at the Clyde Quay Wharf to land about MO,OOO feet of Oregon pine and 1500 bundles of laths. Having arrived at Wellington from London, via way ports, early yesterday morning, the New Zealand Shipping Company's Paparoa berthed at the King's Wharf to land the local portion of bur cargo. Departure will bo taken for 60utheru porta to-morrow. A Press Association message from London states that the New Zealand Shipping Company's Otaki has left that port for Auckland, Wellington, and the Bluff. Advice hae been received by tho local office of the Union Company stating that the Kalranoa had left Editliburg on Saturday last for Lyttelton, Wellington, and New Plymouth. . As the barque Manuniu was being towed from Auckland a few days ago the vessel by some means got out of control, and, slewing round, ran on to tho mud olf Craig's Wharf. The Manunui is fully loaded with sawn timber for Sydney, and, as the tide was tho on the ebb, all efforts to tow the vessel off failed. She remained hard and fast by tho bow until 8 o'clock in tho evening, when she woe floated off the ehoal and towed out to sea. The departure of the Richardson steamer Ripple from Wellington for Napier - and Gisborne hag been postponed till to-day. Nelson and New Plymouth cargo will bo taken in at Wellington by tho Union Company's Corinna to-morrow. It is expected that the Union Company's turret collier Koromiko will bo dispatched from Newcastle for Wellington this week.
