THE HIDDEN ENEMY
(Rec. Juno 22, 5.40 p.m.) London, June 21. An Australian at tho Dardanelles writes: —"The Turks seem to be making a last desperate stand agaiust their eviction from Europe, and the operations have become one continuous battle day and night. We are more like spectators than anvthing else. The wily _ Turk very seldom shows himsolf outside his trenches, and has dug himself in so skilfully that our artillery has not had much effect. "Thero's one hill where tho Turks have been entrenched since tho start. We covered it with shells, _ knocked lumps off it, and raked it for days, but when our fire ceased, out came the Turk with his six-inch puis to spit at us."— ("Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.)
