Downie Stewart, M.P., will be tho chief guests and speakers at tho New Zealand Club's luncheon on .Monday next. Dr. Isjabl Ormiston, who for the past threo years has been Chief Medical Inspector o£ Schools under tho Ta6roanian Government, is being sent_ to Montenegro by tho Womidicd Allies' Relief Committee, London. It is announced that Captain Duncan, N.Z.M.C., has been appointed .medical officer to the Maori Reinforcements. Dr. Moreland. of Christchurch, will relievo Captain Duncan of tho chargo .of tho Government Sanatorium at Haimicr Springs. Lieutenant Dunbar Sloane, who has been a resident of Johnsonville for tho past five years, is to be entertained in Moore Bros.' Hall by the poople of that district on Thursday evening, prior to his departure as a member of tho stall nf Colonel the Hon. Dr. Collins, officer in charge of the Hospital Ship Maheno. Lieutenant Sloane has already dono much valuable work iu Wellington as an embarkation officer. Mr. L. G. Mackay, of the Wellington Trust, Loan, and Investment Company, returned from a trip to London by the Kemuera yesterday. Among tho passengers to arrive from England by tho Hemuera yesterday were: The Rev. A. Selwyn Bean and Mrs. Bean, the Rev. W. H. W. Rattray, Dr. G. Lyon, Dr. R. C. Roberts, and Mr. W. S. Arbuckle. Mr. F. J. Oakes, of this City, will leavo shortly with Mrs. Oakes, for Sydney, on an extended holiday. Last week Mr. and Mrs. Oakes wero farewelled by the members of St. Gerard's Ohoir, of which Mr. Oakes is conductor and Mrs. Oakes a valued member. During the evening both tho guests, with Miss Ross, also a- member of the choir, and who will accompany -Mr. and Mrs. Oakes on their holiday tour, wero tho recipients of mementoes from tho choir. Mr. L. Clarke, accountant at tho Gisbome National Bank of New Zoaland, who has been transferred to To Aro (Wellington), was mot by the Gisborno staff and presented with, a handsome shaving mirror as a parting expression of goodwill prior to his departure on Sunday. Mr. C. H. Palmer, commodoro of tho Now Zealand Power Boat Association, and Mr. A. Burt, a prominent moinbur of that body, have arrived hero from Auckland, to hand over to tho authorities tho launch Awhina, which ha 6 been donated to tho Hospital Ship by tho Auckland Power Boat Association. Lieutenant-Colonel Tracy R. Inglij, second in command of the New Zealand Hospital Ship, has arrived in Wellington from Auckland to assist in the' preparations for tho dopartnro of tho vessel.
