THE MOCK COURT

OVER £200 IN TOUR SITTINGS. . The High Court of Patriotism, otherwise the Mock Court, is doing brisk business. In four evening sittings this week it has gathered in well over .£2OO. Last evening Judges E. J. Fitzgibbon and A. Neivton presided, and Mr. M. A. Carr was Crown Prosecutor. The court was run in the interests of Queen No. 8 (Miss Doughty). Several, accused persons failed to. appear, and their bail, which tuey forwarded, was estreated. A well-known Hibernian was heavily fined for having been heard singing "The Wearing of the Green." Mr. Id. N. Liardot was penalised in the sura of .£5 ss. for having no visible means of support, inasmuch as he .lived on "The Ocean." . One of the drapers who wr.s brought before the court pleaded thc+ lie was .helping the candidature of the Drapers' Queen, and his fine was ordered to be paid to that quarter., A fine of .£5 10s. was entered against Mr. W. G. Duthie, who was accused of many infractions. Mr. Geo. Winder had to pay £2 ss. 6d. for havingdared to set up an institution in opposition to the Chamber of Commerce. Mr. E. Johnston (auctioneer) was ordered to prove that he was an auctioneer, -whereupon he auctioned sixpence for 13s. Then the Court fined him 10s. The Court will eit again 'this evening.
