FLAG SOLD FOB £7036 A NEW ZEALAND RECORD, (From Our Special Correspondent.) Masterton, June lk A flaf presented by Mrs. Hugh Morrison, of Masterton, was sold at a patriotic concert at Grey town this evening, and realised the magnificent sum of ,£7036. The highest bidder was Mr. John H'Jlaster, who gave a section of land, valued at .£4OOO, and Sir Walter Buchanan added another .£IOOO to his already large list of contributions. Other bids were:—South Wairarapa Working Men's Club, .£320; Wairarapa Trotting Club, .£105; and numerous bids cf JSIO9. The sale of this flag constitutes a record for New Zealand. The amount realised goes to the Wairarapa Wounded Soldiers' Fund. During the last two days over £15,000 has been subscribed to the Wairarapa Wounded Soldiers' Fund. To-day, Mr. Hugh Beetham, of "Brancepeth," contributed JCSOO ■to tho Fund for Wounded Soldiers, THE HOSPITAL SHIP.
