ELOCUTIONARY RECITAL. Mr. Culford Bell and. Miss Betty Purdom, with their pupils, gave another of tlieir successful recitals at Kilbirriie Hall last night, the objeot being to benefit the Wounded Soldiers' Fund, and ito further Miss Lowe's candidature in the Queen Carnival contest. The two prin cipals appeared in three short plays— "The Art of Making Love," in which they brought out the delightful comedy of the scene to perfection, Miss Purdom being particularly dainty in her part. The humour of "A Bus Kide" was well sustained, and proved a very popular item, whilo jn the farcical skit, "A Melodrama," which finished ithe entertainment, these well-known entertainers were equally clever. Miss "Mabel Gallichan was very successful in "How?" and Mr. Harry G. Shakes and Miss P. Beale in two Shakesperean selections showed to distinct advantage. Doris Bailey recited "John Maynard," Mr. A. W. Liddell "Spotity" (musical monologue), Josie Bailey, "A Eat or a Moose"; Ngaire Lemmoil, "Mrs. Caudle"; Miss Low, "By the Yukon Trail"; Leith Bidden, "Old Mose"; Miss Vera Petherick, 'Pickett's Nell"; Miss M. Boutell, musical monologue, "A Melodrama"; Miss Griffiths, "At the Box Office"; and Mis* Tasker, "A Trial of Patience."
