The fortnightly meeting of the committee of the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals was held yesterday. Mr. D. J. Watson presided. A motion by Mrs. Christie in reference to tho suggestion of forming a children's branch of the society was to the effect that a young people's branch be formed with an age limit of sixteen years, the annual subscription to be Is. . Further arrangements axo to be made at a future meeting. It was resolved that the £10 7s. which was donated to the relief of sick and wounded horses at the front be sent to London for the fund for that purpose
The usual report of the society's inspector (Captain Henry) detailed various cases of cruelty discovered and remedied during tho past fortnight. Subscriptions were received and acknowledged as follow for the past fortnight:—Wa.irarapa Farmers' Co-opera-tive Association, Bristol Piano Co., New Zealand Express Co., Ltd., Bell, Gully. Bell, and Myers, 10s. 6d. each; Miss H. Booker, G-. and T. Young, W. H. Turnbull, Hayward's Pictures, Ltd., Fuller's Pictures, Ltd., Kitto and San, Wright, Dixon, and Witt, ss. each: A Friend, 2s. 64.: total, £3 19s. 6d.
