£1600 FOR THE WOUNDED SOLDIERS. (By Telegraph.—Preps Association.} Wanganui, June 13. With the object of raising funds for the sick and wounded soldiers, the commercial travellers took charge of the town on Saturday. The weather was very unpleasant, especially at night, but the carnival was a great success, tho takings totalling £1600, with further sums still to come in. A feature of the carnival was the mock court, before which people were haled by grotesque policemen. Fines totalling over £600 were levied and paid smilingly.
