NATIONAL RESERVE
Despite the rough' weather, there was - a very good muster of B Company (Wellington East) last Friday evening, when, after some company drill had been practised, an adjournment was mado > to the Clyde Quay School, where an ' interesting lecture on "Ballistics," by Major Skelley, was delivered and grcat- . ly appreciated. Some discussion took place after the lecture, as to the necessity for changing the drill night, owing to Friday being now the late evening for those in retail businesses, ibis entailing a sure loss in attendance on such nights of some 20 or 30 members. On a show of hands Thursday was selected by the great majority of those present, but it was decided to call tho next parade for Thursday, June 17, when the matter will again be put to the vote. Tho miniature rifle match between the Gas Company and the B Company team resulted in a win for tho former. The N.C.O.'s have now been appointed, and are as follow:—Sergeantmajor, Mr. Neal. Section commanders: Sergeants C. E. Bridge (No. 1 Section), M'Gregor (No. 2 Section), AYilson (No. 3 Section), AVatt (No. 4 Section); corporals. Messrs. 'Maidley (No.' 1), Tanner (No. 2), Sanderson (No. 3), Taylor (JVo. 4); lance-corporals, Messrs. Luke (No. 1), Beckway (No. 2), Rising (No. 3), Grubb (No. 4). The "awkwnrd squad'' is making good progress, and should soon be incorporated as No. 0 Section of the company, which, it was stated 011 Friday, would soon have a miniature rifle rangs of its own available to members. The election of a captain of the D Company. 2nd Regiment, National Reserve, will take place at tho Drill Hall, lower Hntt," 011 June 24. The candidates are H. J. J. G'lapham (Hutt unit)
