PLOUGHING MATCH

A' great deal of interest was evinced in the ploughing match at Wereroa, Levin, Experimental Farm last week, "he competitors in llie match were five lads, learners on the farm, and tlieir ages (says the "Horowhenua Chronicle") ranged from ]5 to 17 years. Each competitor had to plough close on an aero, a good test, and the match resulted, as followsßest ploughed lot: W. W. Thompson, 15 years of age, five months on the farm, no previous experience of farm work, 1; Harry Pryor, 10 years of age, five months on tho farm, no previous experience of farm work, 2; William Dale, 16 years of age, live months on the farm, no previous experience of farm work, 3; James Tolley, 17 years of age, eight months on •the farm, slight previous experience of farm work, <1; CI. Smith, 15 years of ago, five months on the farm, no previous experience of farm work, 5. Rest "ins and outs": W. W. Thompson, 1; Harry Pryor. 2: G. Smith, 3: J. Toljey, 4; W, Dale, 5. Straightest ploughed lot: W. W. Thompson. 1; W. Dale, 2; Harry Pryor, 3; G. Smith, •{; J. Tollcy, 5. ' ' The judges were Mr. J. Drysdale (manager of the Experimental Farm) and Mr. E. Law, of Shannon. Eighteenpence per pound for buttcrfat supplied during May and also threepence per pfmnd additional for tho March supply will be paid out by the Levin Dairy Company this month, says the Horowhenua "Chronicle." The bonus for March increases the total price por pound for that month's fat to fifteenpence. Tho total disbursement on Juno 20 by the company will exceed £2000.
