BEAUTIFYING EASTBOURNE
'A TEAR'S WORK. The second annual general meeting of the Ea6tbourno Beautifying Society was held on Thursday evening. The annual report, which was adopted, stated that the adult membership (and in this is included only financial members of the society) is at present 138, as compared with 154 for last year, while the juvenile branch shows an inorease of 28, having 85 members as compared with 57 last vear. The position ib regarded as highly satisfactory, as, apart from the actual cash in hand and in the bank, amounting to £47 Bs., the society has also other assets worth £3 los. in the way of materials.
The election of officers resulted as followa:—Patron, Mr. T. M. Wilford, M.P.; president, Jlr. D. M. Findlay; vice-presidents, Messrs. W. Allan, A. Blair, A. SI. Cook, W. A. Grace, H. M. Heywood, J. P. Kelly, A. Levy, W. F. Shortt, 0. P. Skerrett, K.C.. B. T. Wise, E. G. F. Zolirab, and Sir John Findlay; auditor, Mr. H. Gray; joint secretaries, Messrs. H. Cook and F. W. Downes.
The general management committee for. the ensuing year is: Mosdames H. W. Shortt, F. W. Downes, Misses Young, G. Foley, and Ashworth, and Messrs. H. W. Shortt, W. Organ, — M'Pherson, J. Hoenan, P. D'K. Hodgkins. The Entertanment Committee as elected consists of the following:—Mesdames Ohittey, F. W. Downos, and M'Pherson, Misses Young, G. Foley, Leslie, and Nixon, Messrs. H. Wright, J. Perry, and S. Ross, with power to add to their number.
