RISE IN PRICE OF COAL
POSITION OF WHEAT. London, June 10. Mr. Walter Bimciman (President of the Board of Trade), speaking in the House of Commons, referring to the increased price of coal, said it wa& largely due to the heavy enlistment of miners. The output of the remainder had largely increased per man, therefore an advance in wagos was justified, but taking all the facts into account, the price at tho pithead was excessive. He hoped that negotiations with the companies would effect an improvement, if hot, Parliament would not tolerate exploitation. At one time there was danger of the wheat margin being reduced.' That fear had now been removod, and he hoped the fall in price would not stop before the new and abundant harvest was garnered. He looked forward to the opening of the Dardanelles to further reduce the pricc.
