Luke) wa6 held .yesterday morning, the matter requiring adjustment beiug the destiny of certain " moneys forwarded to 1-lis Worship, ' which the Patriotic Society claim as haying been so sent ss the result of their Carnival effort in aid of the Fund for ' Wounded Soldiers and Sailors. The • executive asked that all such moneys 1 should be paid over to the society's 2 treasurer (Mr. J. M'lntosh) in order •" that they would be able to keep their r accounts square. Hie Mayor stated in > reply that he was hardly prepared to • do that, as there might be cases where " moneys might be paid over to him for " which he might have to account later 1 on ; and were handed over to him as • being the Chief Magistrate of the City.
