The Military.. authorities have Intel j. been embarrassed by an outbreak of a q epidemic of measles at Trent'ham, an 0 available hospital accommodation ha 0 been sevorely taxed. Hitherto th D sick men have been accommodated i CI a part of the General Hospital com nionly known as the D.T.'s Ward, an at the Plague Hospital at Berhampore j There has been a certain amount o overcrowding at the latter establish ment, and the Defence authorities hav ) now arranged to havo the use of an ) other . ward at the General Hospital Officers of tho Medical Corps will at J tend to the patients, but in other respects the wards will still remain under tho control of tho Medical Super--1 intendent at the Hospital. In spite . of the discomfort the sick men have ? shown excellent spirit, having not con . plained at all, and not a serious con plication has arisen in any single cas< . In thi instance it is believed that a Christ church man brought the measles to th camp. At Home, in the training cen , tres, it is stated that the authoritie I do not know where to turn for hospi I tal accommodation. Not only have the; ' measles there, but also mumps, whicli when epidemic in a camp is very han to eradicate owing to the long periw ; of in every case. A MESSAGE FROM NEW ZEALAND ; The Hon. James Allen, Minister oi Defencc, has sent tlio following cablegram to General Sir lan Hamiltor 1 (General Officer Commanding the British Forces in the Mediterranean): — "Many thanks for your telegram oi i June 1. Please tell tho New Zealanders that their country is proud of -what they have achieved, and awaits with confidence and patience your report of what they still shall do.
