YOUTH SHOT DEAD

(By TckEMWh.—Press Association.) Whangarel, June 6. A shooting fatality occurred yesterday at Mangapai. Thompson Fleming, aged eighteen, oE AVhangarei, had shot a cat. and proceeded to pick up the animal, leaving his double-barrelled gun on a bank of earth. The gun retained one charge. Tho lad bent to pick up the gun, when the undischarged shot hit him in the neck and killed him instantly. It is conjectured that a twig or other obstruction on the' bank caught tho hammer or trigger of the gun. A sister witnessed the tragedy. Deceased has a brother at the front.
