$ Tho monthly meeting of the Sooiefcy for the Health of Women and Children was held in tho society's rooms, 3 Courtenay Place, on Wednesday, June 2. Those present were: Mesdames Willianiß (in the chair), G. Reed, M'Vicar, Corrigan, Cook, M'Lean, J. Tripe, W. Luke, Winder, Ewen, and Hosting, Viscountess Kelbum, Misses Barnett and Kirkcaldie. Apologies were received from Mesdames Massey, Ward, S. Kirkcaldie, Coull, Fell, Misses Cable, Peach, and Inglis. The nurses' monthly report was most satisfactory, both for Wellington- and Petone. Miss Barnett reported that sewing bees had been held weekly, both at Mrs. Algar Williams's and Mrs. Hosking's housos, since April 3. The Bum of £20 17s. Id. had been spent on material, and over 700 baby garments had been made. They were exhibited at Messrs. Kirkcaldie and Stains's premises on Tuesday, June 1. The' committee's thanks are due to Mr. 8. Kirkcaldie for his courtesy in allowing the baby clothes to be shown. The committee also wishes to thank the many outside workers who have given suoh valuable help, including Mesdames Bayfield, Stott, C. Richardson, Roskruge, La Trobo, Miss Babisgrove's and the Ohilton House girls, and Miss Cooper. The following subscriptions have been received for material:—£s 125., previously acknowledged; Mrs. and Miss Goar, £2 25.; Mrs. Donald Robertson, £2; Lady Stout, £1 75.; Mrs. Algar Williams, £1 Is.; Jlesdames J. Kirkcaldie, Ponsonby, F. W. Furkett, Viscountess Kelburn, £1 each; Mrs. D. Cook, 155.; Mrs. Fitchett, Miss Kirkcaldie, 10s. each; Mesdames Corrigan, Harcourt, Stott, M'Lean, Misses Peach and Tuples, ss. each; Mrs. W. J. Grey, 6s. 6d.; Mrs. F. Leckie and Mrs. Ward, 2s. 6d. each; Mrs. Roskruge, 2s. ■ Mrs. Anderson was elected a member of the oomniittee, being proposed by Mrs. M'Vicar and seconded by Mrs. Algar Williams. A vote of sympathy was passed to Mrs. F. R. Chapman on the death- of her son at the front, tho sympathy of the committee to be conveyed to Mrs. Chapman, in a letter written by the president. M'Lean, Gear, W. Reid, Gordon Reid, Meek, Joseph Joseph, Ritchie, G. F. C. Campbell, M. Myers, Salmond, Misses E. Gear, Stewart, Tuglos, ss. each; Mts. Tinanett, fis. Parcels of clothes for distribution by the Plunkot Nurses have also boen received from Mrs. N. Kirkcaldie, Mrs. Lan Duncan, and Mrs. Kirker.
