June 4, 10.60 p.m.) Paris, Juno '4.A French eye-witness supplies notes from tho diary of a German cap-, tain, whose body was found amongst four thousand others, on tho slopes of Notro Dame do Lorette. The writer states: "Wo have been allotted an impossible task, and are holding with a' weak forco Ablam. With each falling shell some of our soldiers dccampcd." Tho last page of tho diary says: <r Wo have beou without support for days, and tho remnanfca of our trendies have been destroyed. Wo are caught liko rats in a trap. My nerves aro gone. The fire of the enemy is "Times" and Sydney "Sun" Services.
