The Union collier Kaitangata is reported fc> have left Sydney last Thursday for Napier and Gisborne. Timber is being loaded at Greymouth for Sydney by the Jumna. Marseilles will be the port of call for Orient steamers in future instead of Toulon.

According to advice received in Wellington, the C. and D. liner Hawke's Bay, which cleared Wellington for London on April 20, arrived at her destination cn Saturday. May 29.
The "Union Company's steamer Ennerdale. which is reported to have been purchased from the llnoriland Steamship Company, is at present loading at Newcastle for Auckland.

According to the latest (British) Navy Estimates, the number of Boyal Naval Reserve officers provide dfor 'was 1540, and tho number of men 11, COO, with the addition of 1278 men in fishing, vessels, and 1000 men in tho colonial branches of R.N.R. Out of the 1340 executive officers probably some 1200 are now engaged in aetivc service in British war vessels. Since the war broke oue the number of K.N.B. officers has been increased by ovor 700, who now hold temporary commissions for the period of tho war. The grand total of merchant captains and officers holding commissions, and now In active service under the British Admiralty, thus amounts to over 2000.

It has been stated that the New Zealand Shipping Company's Paparoa, which is due at Hohart from London to-morrow, would arrive at Wellington on June 10. As a matter of fact, tho vessel is calling at Auckland, and will not arrive at this port till June 16.
