BOXING
WELLINGTON ASSOCIATION. A meeting of the Wellington Boxing Association was held last night. Mr. 11. M'Villy presided. A deputation waited on the committee in connection with the sports' representative f6r the Queen Carnival. Mr. A. A. Bennett asked that the proceeds of the proposed boxing tournament should be given towards Nurse Everitt's candidature, and also asked ior a donation from the recent boxing snd football tournament. In reply, Mr. M'Villy said that they would give consideration to the request. It was later decided to donate the funds of the meeting on June 10 to the candidature of the sports' representative-.
A letter was received from Frank Ellic, stating that he could not give a definite reply yet as to whether he could come across from Australia for a match.
A request came from the Petone Carnival Committee for permission, to hold a boxing tournament there in support of the local candidate for Queen. It was decided to take the) necessary stops to got the permit for the Petone tournament, and to give the assistance uf officials. Tho Xnox Young Men's Biblo Class, Lower Hutt, wrote asking for a secondhand set of boxing gloves. It was decided to donate a set. . . The Wairarapa Boxing Association intimated that they intended holding a meeting in aid of the Allies' relief funds, and asking could three men bo sent through. It was decided to do all that the committee could to assist the meeting.
