[At- the inquiry into the circumstances of the railway disaster at Gretna Green, Meecham, a signalman at Quinton's Hill, gave evidence that he shunted the local train up to the main line. He told Tinsley when the latter relieved him that t'Ho train hid been shunted. Tinsley in his evidence said he jumped off the local train as it crossed to the up line, so he knpw it had crossed. The collision occurred at 6.50 p.m. He quite forgot about the local train after he jumped off the engine. There was only a minute interval between the first aud second collisions.
