Hagclthorn (Minister of Public Works) states that owing to exporters failing to supply the meat required to fill Victoria's contracts, tho Imperial authorities liavc commandeered tho necessary Jieat. SALVING THE EMDEN. TENDERS CALLEDFOR THE WORK. Melbourne, May 31. The Defence Department is inviting tenders for salving tho Emden. Tho contract will provide -for handing over to the Navy all war material, money, and confidential documents found j aboard. Tho Government has first claim to purchase the salved hull. THE CERMAN ROUND-UP IN AUSTRALIA. QUESTION OF ACCOMMODATION. Sydney, May 31. The Government has allotted the disused Tria.l Bay pr'son buildings for housing the increasing number of detained Germans.
