SOUTH CANTERBURY FARMERS
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Timaru, May 29. At the annual meeting of the South Canterbury Farmers' "Union, tho chairman, Mr. John Talbot, expressed the opinion that the wheat area next liar-, vest would be double that of the Irvstharvest, high prices and the shortage of feed for sheep being two impelling causes. The meeting decided to write to Mr. Massey pointing out that the middlemen are apparently making more profit out of frozen meat than reasonable. The opinion was expressed that the Government should have taken the whole thing over and bought tho meat off the hooks instead of f.o.b. As skins are becoming more valuable the price per lb. for meat should be raised for June!
