a N.Z. FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION ■ 'ANNUAL REPORT. . The annual report of the New Zealand Football Association to bo presented at the annual meeting of delegates to be hold in tho Accountants' Chambers to-night refers to the effect the war has had on the game and the assistance given by the association to help recruiting. The report continues: At present football is but a secondary consideration, and during the 1915 season much advance cannot bo hoped for; in fact-, the game must suffer as players leave the country, but your council suggests that there are minor details of importance to the game which might be given more, attention during a comparatively quiet season. In 1914, tho report goes On to state, there were about 335 teams, as follow: Auckland, 54; Bay of Plenty, 5; Canterbury, 42; Buller, 4; Hawke's Bay, 7: Manawatu, 7; Marlborough l , li; Nelson, -1; Otago, 66; Ohiiiemnri, 2; Poverty Bay, 10; Southland, 16; Waikato, 4; Wanganui, 4; Wellington, 90; West-land, 7. A new association, consisting .of some seven or eight teams, has been formed in tho Westland District, and is now affiliated. The Nelson and Waikato Associations will, it is hoped, come in at an early date. It is to ,be regretted that the Taranaki Association has become extinct, the resuit probably of the long distances to bo travelled for matches. The game is also not very healthy' in the Manawatu district. The council might with advantage try and place tho game on a footing in these parts.. Brown Shield matches were played as follow Canterbury, 3 goals, Westland (now Buller), nil; Canterbury, 8 goals, Hawke's Bay; nil; Canterbury, 7 goals, Wanganui, 3 goals; Canterbury, 2 goals, Otago, 2 goals. Canterbury was r\ t °° n g r atu!ated upon its success. Other items from the report are as rollou-:—l<or the present and during the war all negotiations regarding the visits of overseas teams must be dropped. I The council would have to decide at an early date what rent each association would bo entitled to charge tor. the Brown Shield matches played on its own grounds. The report also thanked Mr. A. E. Gibbs for his interest_ and work on behalf of the association. c , The balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £30 Is. 6d.
