Harold Escott, charged with the murder of his father, lias been acquitted. [William F. Escott, farmer, of Black Springs, was shot by an unknown person on the evening of March 16. Tlie shot, which proved fatal, was fired through the window of his office, and apparently the weapon, a shot-gun, was placed close to the window. Escott was one of the oldest residents of Black Springs. At the inquest, black trackers gave evidence that they discovered tracks leading from the house of the deceased to a shaft where a gun was found. The tracks were those of Harold Escott, deceased's youngest son, who was charged with committing the murder.] A FLOUR CRISIS OVER. SUPPLIES TO HAND IN WEST AUSTRALIA. Perth, May 25. The Minister of Lands (Hon. W. D. Johnson) states that there is no danger of a flour famine. 4 thousand tons had been received from Victoria, and the arrival of Argentine wheat had enabled him to guarantee supplies till the nest harvest. The retailers are unable to procure anything like normal supplies. There is a great outcry amongst tho householders. The threatened shortage in sugar is also beginning to be felt, and retailers are declining to fill anything beyond very limited orders. RIDICULOUS DEMANDS. BY CREWS OF STATE TRAWLERS. Sydney, May 24. The English crews of the State trawlers are demanding three shifts of firemen and fishermen. The Chief Secretary, Mr. G. Sydney, May 24. Mr. Nielsen reports from San Francisco that California lias passed a law that all imported butter must bo stamped "imported." FIRE IN A BOOT FACTORY. Sydney, May 23. A fire destroyed Gillespie's boot factory at Nawcastle. The proprietors recently secured a contract for the supply of military boots, and largo stocks were destroyed. The cause of the fire and the damage done are unknown. N.S.W. FINANCE. Sydney, May 22.
