KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL
4_ At last night's meeting of tho Karon Borough Council, the Mayor (Mr. B G. H. Burn) presided, and there were also present Councillors A. Hamilton, J. W. HehJenon, \V. Skcgg, L. P. Dftvies, T. W—Lewer, It. l<"aire, W. C, Cooper, R. T. Poll, and J. G. Raine. On the recommendation of the Publio Works Committee, it was decided to call tenders for fodder l'or the months of June, July, and August. The Town Clerk was- instructed to write to Mr. L. T. Brown, of Feilding, thanking him for his gift of kowhai seeds fo/ Karori Park. In reference to letters from the Ladies' Hockey Association, and the Karori Golf Club on the matter of improved tram service on Saturday afternoon, a letter bearing on the subject was received from the City tramway authorities. The letter stated that the llockey Association had been advised that a special car could be run for theconvenience of players provided 40 passengers could be guaranteed each way, with a minimum faro of sixpence. The Petone Borough Council wrote inviting tho borough to send a delegate to a conference to consider the question of loss of rates on Crown lands. It was dosided to ask the Petone Council if legal advice had been taken on the question as to whether the Government was liable for tho special rate on Crown lands. Tho Mayor was appointed a delegate to attend the suggested conference.
