ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
YOUNG WOMAN'S SAD DEATH. A young married woman named Nellio M'l'horsoii, aged 28 yoarsj was found dead in bed at No. 175 Vivian Street yesterday morning with her throat cut. Deceased was residing with her two children at the residence of Mrs. Thomson, 175 Vivian Street, and Mrs. Thomson was the last person to sec her alive. She camo down to breakfast yesterday morning, and appeared very quiet. She was later found dead in her bed, with her throat out, and had evidently committed suicide. It was rejwficd that she had taken a bottle ol stout from Mrs. Thomson's room, a shaving mug from another room, and a razor. Deceased was lying on tho bed, fully dressed, with the bed clothes pulled over her head. A looking glass and a razor, both covered with blood, were found by the bedside. A letter was'on the tabio, addressed to Mrs. Thomson, and oil the envelope was written: "Bury me with my baby at Porirua. I have taken stout to give me nerve. Cablo Mr. A. Brown, Belle Vue Road, Edgecliffe, N.S.W." Deceased's husband is employed with the Bristol Piano Company at Oamaru. An inquest will be held, but tho date has not been fixed. CHILD'S SUDDEN DEATH. An inquest was held at Silverstream yesterday, before Mr. D. G. A, Cooper, S.M., into the death of a young child named Arthur Lionel Stokes, aged 1 year 11 months, who died suddenly at the parents' residence, Main Road, Silverstream, on Wednesday afternoon. Dr. P. W. Kemp, of Upper Hutt, who was called to see tho child after death, and who made a post-mortem examination gave evidence tlmt tho child showed signs of malnutrition, and the lungs showed a condition of acute bronchitis. In his opinion the cause of death was aoute bronchitis, undoubtedly assisted by the malnutrition. Mrs. M. N. Stokes, the mother of the child, stated that the family had resided at Silverstream for about nine weeks. They had come from Kaikoura. The child had always been delicate, and had given her a lot of trouble owing to his health. She had frequently taken him to doctors, and had regulated his diet oil the doctors' advice. On one | occasion the doctor had told her that the child had congestion of the stomach, and nothing would agree with him. A. verdict was brought in that the cause of death was acuto bronchitis. A FATAL ACCIDENT. A man named Murphy was admitted to the Hospital between 7 and 8_ o'clock last night with the base of his skull fractured. He was unconscious when admitted, and died at 10 o'clock. It is believed that the deceased slipped and fell outside the Lambton Police Station, and struck his head on the footpath. No particulars as to his identity wero in tho hands of the police last night. OTHER ACCIDENTS. A trooper named Fletcher, from Trentham Camp, was admitted to the Hospital last night with a fractured leg. Particulars of the accident were not available. A man named Adams, who met. with an accident through a horse bolting at Newtown, and who had his hand and head cut, was also admitted to the Hospital last night. His condition is not serious.
