SCHOOL SEWING SYLLABUS

* TURNED TO PATRIOTIC ACCOUNT. (Br TeleeraDh.—Press Association.) Dunedin, May 20. The Education Board to-day received from representatives of the teachers in the Dunedin and suburban' schools a request that the board would sanction the present sewing syllabus being held •in abeyance, so that girls may devote their sewing time to knitting or sewing for patriotic purposes. The Chief Inspector reported that a modification of the syllabus could only be allowed by liio Department, and he strongly recommended the board to ask the Department to allow of modification. The board resolved to apply to the Department for the necessary permission.
