ENEMY VESSELS INTERNED IN SOUTH AFRICA

NOTICE TO CONSIGNEES. Tho following memorandum has been Bent out by tho Wellington Chamber of Commerce to consiguees having cargo in enemy vessels interned in Soutli Africa: —

S.S. Birkenfols: This vessel, with cargo from Now York for Australian and New Zealand ports, was interned at Capo Town. Sho ha 6 been renamed tlio 'Linden," and under a prize crew arrived at Sydney on April ID last. The representatives of the Federal Steam Navigation Co., Ltd., in Australia are tlio agents for this steamer.

S.S. Hamm and Apolda: Advico has boen recoived from Sydney that these vessels, which have Australian and New Zealand cargo oil board, left Durban—the Hamm on April 13 and tho Apolda. on April 18; the ports of tlischargo in Australia being: Hamm, Fromantle, Adelaide, and Sydney; Apolda, Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbauo.

Tho advico states: "Before delivery of goods can bo obtained, it will b 0 necessary for consignees to produce to the Collector of Customs at the port of dischargo, all documents and complete ovidenco as to ownership, and that they are not enomy good 6 in terms of tho Trading with the. Enemy Acts, and Imperial Proclamations."

The Sydney Chamber of Commerce advises New Zealand consignees to forward to tlioir agents in Sydnoy all shipping documents and evidence of ownership, so that delivery of tho cargo can bo obtained on arrival of the vessels. The Sydnoy Chamber of Commerce previously advised in February last that New Zealand consignees would require to claim their cargo in Australia, and that onward freight would bo for consignee's account, in addition to the cost of bringing tho vessels across from South Africa.
