KING'S UNIFORM NOT FOR CRIMINALS
JUDGE'S REPLY TO AN OFFER TO ENTjIST.
Melbourne, May 17,
Replying to a convicted prisoner's plea that lie be allowed to enlist, Judgo Eaglcton said: "The King's uniform ought to stand not only for valour, but honesty, uprightness, and good citizenship. It would be a terrible tiling to lot honest, reputable men who have left home to light for their country associate with criminals, and a gross indignity to the troops whose valorous doeds have loused a peal of. admiration throughout the civilised world."
